This is the first in a new (and most likely irregular) series of posts, where myself or guests of TapeYourMouth highlight a particularly good tape that they have bought recently. There’s tons of music coming out on cassette these days, so I thought it might be cool if we give a few words about something that has caught our ears recently.
The first cassette to get the treatment is a brilliant new release from i AM esper on Frozen Tendril Records. Entitled Landscapes Of Death and Beauty, this is definitely one for any fans of icy, dream-like drone music. Full of fuzzy bass and subtle guitar lines, this tape evokes Nadja at times but with a little more affinity for melody. Utilising loops and an electric guitar, i AM esper conjures up bleak landscapes that are reflected in the tapes art which displays a snow-covered field stretching out into the distance.
It’s a brilliant release, and you can pick up a copy as part of a brilliant little package at Frozen Tendril that includes two CD-r’s of demos and small leather-covered book that contains details of the recordings. They are mega limited and hand-made, so if you’d like one (which you should), head over to the labels shop pretty sharpish. Find all the relevant links below!

TapeYourMouth are ecstatic to announce their second release, this time from the brilliant Broken Shoulder. TYM-002 comes under the title The Tape Of Disquiet, and comes on a bright pink C45 cassette, with a three panel black and white insert. The whole thing was mastered by the rather brilliant Benjamin Shaw too!
The Tape Of Disquiet follows a rather busy 2011 for Neil Debnam, aka Broken Shoulder, including the release of his debut album and a split with his other band Fighting Kites on Audio Antihero. You can pre-order this new release over at our Bandcamp page, but be quick as it’s limited to just 30 copies that come with a download.

Tape Your Mouth are very pleased to announce their debut release. TYM-001 comes courtesy of the fantastic duo of Atay Ilgün (Svefn Plural, Treefingers) and Daniel Vincent (The Resonance Association, Onion Jack, Safety Deposit Box) and is entitled Fragments Of Sound. Improvised and recorded in one day over at mrs.vee studios back in November 2011, it’s a beautiful collection of serene soundscapes and finger-picked guitars.
This release comes on a white C40 cassette with a handmade insert featuring the above artwork, as well as a download of the extended versions of the session. You can pre-order this release over at Bandcamp now, ready for release on the 30th January 2012.

With things slowly getting into gear at Tape Your Mouth, and TYM-001 gradually coming together, I thought it best to set up all the usual outlets where you’ll be able to keep up to date with what’s happening. The first of which is the ubiquitos Facebook page, of which you can find here!
Over on the facebook page you will also find a link to a blog entry from our friend Daniel Vincent, including some information and little snippets of the music that is looking to become Tape Your Mouths first release! Find that blog entry here and show MrsVee a little love too.
More to come very soon on TYM-001…
